Government Funding

      Methane is known to be 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide as a harmful greenhouse gas. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been conducting economic analyses of methods for reducing its key sources, one of which is livestock manure. The AgStar Program , established by the EPA, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Department of Energy (DOE), promotes voluntary adoption of anaerobic digestion technologies that recover and combust biogas. Additionally, federal, state and local governments are increasingly passing laws and regulations to curb this source of air pollution while helping to subsidize farms (i.e., offering grants) that employ this beneficial technology.
